Site Type:    Remote

Limiting Magnitude:    Bortle Scale: 2; completely dark down to the horizons toward the east and south

Sky Quality Meter readings: 21.65-21.80 magnitude per square arcsecond on nights of excellent transparency

Location:    Central Oregon

Distance:    Approximately 180 miles ( 4 hours) from Portland, 160
miles (3.5 hours) from Eugene and 25 miles from  Prineville

General Description:    Approximately 10 acre site east of Bend and
south of Prineville in Central Oregon.   Gravelled observing area with
360º view.  Usually accessible year round.

Great for working on the Messier or Herschel list or astro-imaging.
Property is owned by Jim Jackson who is willing to let Rose City
Astronomers Members, Eugene Astronomical Society Members or
other Astronomy Club Members use subject to
advance permission by the owner. 

Use Conditions:  Use is by PERMISSION ONLY, and must be
obtained prior to each visit from the property owner

Owner will provide directions and instructions on opening
secured gate.  

Site Conditions:  Site is unimproved bare land with scattered Juniper
trees.  No services or utilities.  Self-contained or tent
camping is OK.  Limited to small groups (< 6 people) and only a
few vehicles (< 3) at any one time.  No pets, no smoking,
no fires, etc.
