The layout plan itself is finalized, now that the fixed aspects of the basement are complete. The rooms for the crew lounge, dispatcher’s office, utilities, and shop area are finished. I’ve used 3rd planIt in its roughest form to layout the railroad. My main purpose was to ensure that aisle and benchwork widths would fit within the space defined, allowing for my minimum radius, track height, etc. Once the documented plan was complete, masking tape was placed on the floor to mark the benchwork and aisle space. Because I’ve got 9 foot ceiling height in the basement, I’m
using the mushroom layout concept. The floor height for elevated
section
of the mushroom is 16 inches high.
