Temp Sound Solutions began in late 1997 as a project by aural experimentalist Shawn Phase
in an attempt to break free from the chains of conventional rock music. The combination of early
mathrock elements and broken video games is the intent of the tapestry of sound that has came from
this project in the last 10 years.
Having been a stalwart supporter of the music scene in Baltimore County, Shawn decided that it was at
this point that he wanted to combine a hands on, diy ethic to music made with computers and began
to experiment with the use of various free dos-based sequencers and traditional instruments together.
Shawn Phase played many shows in his previous bands such as Grandizer with Josh Reuven (later of Prozaics)
and The Idea Men with Rjyan Kidwell (aka Cex) in local clubs of yore such as The Loft, and The Small Intestine,
and Memory Lane before getting the hunger for something different. Temp Sound Solutions would prove to be a battle
against Shawn Phase himself to restructure a new form of performance art by attempting to break the barrier between
solo artist and band.
Over the past 10 years, Phase has toiled away the years with exceeding the boundaries concieved at the start of
his project. TSS has been documented by over 170 releases, 6 video game cover cd's, and just until recently;
a 3-song 7" EP.
