Thank you to everyone who visited our spring Scholastic book fair. We raised over $1,000 for new materials for our school library. This would not have been possible without your generous support!
Welcome to Highland-Goffe's Falls Library Media Center web page.
The mission of the Highland-Goffe's Falls Elementary School Library
Media Center is to provide an environment where, through books and
other educational media, students will become accomplished
information-seekers, and will be introduced to a wide range of
literature through various genres, authors, and popular works.
As such, students are encouraged to use the Library Media Center's
resources to support inquiry in a wide range of topics, and to foster
an enjoyment and appreciation of reading.
Our Library Media Center continues to be an important resource for our students – from researching information for school projects and homework, to reading books for leisure and pursuing interests outside of school. Research indicates that high-quality school library media centers – those with qualified staff, meaningful and consistent funding, and quality print and electronic collections -- help students learn more and score higher on state achievement tests.
Students spend forty-five minutes each week in the Library Media Center. A portion of this time is devoted to selecting library books and for silent reading. Each class also has an instructional component which correlates with the New Hampshire Department of Education's GLEs. In the primary grades, the library instruction focuses on reading comprehension and literature appreciation. In the intermediate grades, the library instruction focuses on information literacy (i.e., the ability to locate, access, evaluate, and utilize information).

The HGF Library Media Center
is wheelchair accessible, and contains over 7,000 books as well as
DVDs, videotapes, and magazines. Our Library Media
Center also has four computers through which students and staff can
access the Internet and search our collection with our Winnebago
Spectrum on-line catalog.
