Aerial Photography - Life Sciences Building Construction Progress

The following pictures are of the construction progress on the new Life Sciences Group building for Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. in Hercules, CA. The first photo, taken on September 16, 2002, shows the site before grading started.

The second photo, taken on October 14, 2002, shows progress in the grading for the pad.

This third photo, taken on December 23, 2002, shows the pad complete, and the foundation piers are being poured.

The fourth photo, taken on March 19, 2003, shows the framing complete for the pad, along with the pier wells.

The fifth photo, taken on April 18, 2003, shows the pad completely poured, and, as soon as it's cured, the structure will start to take shape.

The sixth photo, taken on April 30, 2003, shows the start of the steel structure taking shape. This is the second day of structural steel assembly.

This photo, taken on May 12, 2003, shows significant progress on the steel structure.

Taken on May 22, 2003, this photo shows that the structure is about 50-60 percent complete, with some of the roof panels in place.

On May 30,2003, the structural steel is almost completely in place.

June 13th shows continuing progress on the roof and grading of the area around the building.

July 6th shows the roof metalwork nearly complete, and the additional framing for the roof panels has begun.

July 20th shows the structure for the roofing almost ready to cover.

August 1st shows great progress, with the roof framing in place, and some of the exterior wall panels installed

On August 16th, I took a different type of picture. I have two images, taken 2 seconds apart, placed next to each other. This is a stereo photograph. To view it properly, cross your eyes so that you see three images, and look closely at the middle one. You'll see the structure jump out at you! This photo really shows the building "shaping up"!

Continuing the theme on September 5th, here's the start of the roofing taking place. You can see three workers placing the green panels on the roof. The windows are in all around the structure, and work is progressing on the interior. They tell us that we'll be moving in sometime in November! Check out the crane in stereo mode.

Here's the building with the parking lot paved, and the landscaping started. It won't be long until we move in. There have been a lot of people working on finishing up inside.

On November 13, 2003, the building and landscaping are in, and the interior is nearly ready for occupation.

On June 22, 2008, I once again flew my aerial photography plane, and got the following stereo shot showing the 6000 building and the 2000 building. If you look carefully, you can see me on the left of the picture, standing in the parking lot about 1/3 from the bottom.
Hope you enjoyed the views of the construction of this fine facility!
