3m FOAMY WING/COMPOSITE FUSE GLIDER
The following pictures are of a glider made up of a DAW KA-6 wing and a fuselage made of rain gutter downspout material and EPP. This glider has proven to be a great performer, thermaling very well to a great height, is spite of its 6.5 lb all-up weight. I plan to use this as an aerial photography platform to get high altitude photos.
This first photo shows the plane in our family room, and gives you an idea of the size of the plane.
The second photo shows the plane in the air on one of its shakedown flights. On this day, it was outperforming smaller gliders with lower wing loadings. Since then, it has shown itself to respond very well to thermals, and I'm currently awaiting sufficient funds to buy a suitable camera for use in this plane.
The last photo is another flight photo. I'm still learning its flight characteristics, but I'm sure that I'll be proficient enough soon to dare to mount a camera on it.
