An 11-year old fifth grader who lives on Side 6's Libot colony. Al and his frends are facinated by mobile suits and war, and collect war paraphernalia together. However, once Al meets a real Zeon soldier, he would never think of war in the same way as before...
Al's friend from school, the sarcastic Chay enjoys finding trouble, along with war memorabelia with his friends. Chay tends to lead the group of friends.
Al's stuck up, goody-two-shoes, suck-up, competitive, "I like to kick Chay in the balls" classmate, who actually proves to be sympathetic and nice when Al faces a horrible tradgedy.
Another one of Al's classmate friends. The chubby Telcott will eat anything in sight, even the school lunches.

A rookie Zeonic pilot, who by chance is show down on his first mission and meets Al Izuruha. Al supplies Bernie with what knowledge he knows about the new Gundam. Bernie later joins the Cyclops team, and becomes best friends with Al.

The test pilot of the Federation's new Gundam, as well as Al's neighbor. Chris is once again transferred to Libot once the Gundam is delivered there. There, she meets Al again, to whom she tells nothing of her work for the Federation.
The cruel and corrupt captain of the Federation assault carrier Gray Phantom.
Stuart is also in charge of the "G-4 corps", the team in charge of developing the new Gundam. He will do anything it takes to accomplish his goal, even if it means fighting inside of a neutral colony.
Despite his age, Dick is a brilliant weelchair-bound scientist who works to develop artificial mechanical limbs based off of Mobile Suit technology for humans. He is a peaceful scientist who regards Mobile Suits as "a necessary evil that were never made to bring peace or happiness".

A veteran Zeonic lieutenant, and commander of the Cyclops commando team. Even though Steiner realizes his team is being set up to fail by Commander Killing, he still does his best to complete his mission.

An experienced member of the Cyclops team and long time friend of Steiner's. Misha, as his friends call him, is a heavy drinker, but a skilled pilot nonetheless.

The youngest member of the Cyclops team until Bernie joins, Garcia is known for being shrewd, sarcastic, and for hanging porno posters in his Mobile Suit's cockpit.
Age: 27
Another member of the cyclops team, who is obsessed with vanity. Andy is another close friend of Steiner's.
Commander Killing's superior and commander of the Zeon's lunar Grenada base, who has no idea whatsoever what Killing is planning.

A ruthless Zeonic commander who has full athority over the Cyclops team's actions. Killing is secretly setting up the cyclops team to fail.

Commander of the refitted Chivvay class cruiser Graf Zeppelin. He assists the Cyclops team and Commander Killing in their actions.
