Activities

Lisa and Josh hope to be available for fun with friends and family both before and after their wedding.  Here's some activities we have in mind.
  • To kick it all off, there is a San Francisco Giants baseball game on Thursday afternoon.  They take on the Rangers 12:35 pm on June 29th.  We have reserved tickets, and we will be distributing those prior to the game.  Meet us across the street at Momos (bar and restaurant) between 11 and noon.  The AT&T park is only 6 years old, and has lots of fun things for kids of all ages.  One of our favorite parts is simply walking around the park.  Tickets are $18 for our bleacher seats in section 141 and 142.  It is an afternoon game, and the sun actually can shine pretty well in this part of the city.  So wear something cool and bring sunscreen.  But it can be foggy cool and windy, so you probably want to bring a light jacket in case.  Home runs may come our way, so bring your shades and glove.
  • Everyone is invited to a combined Bachelor / Bachelorette party on Thursday June 29th.  Join us for pizza at our rental house, 1939 Mason Street at 7 pm.  A cable car will pick us up there at 9 pm for a night out in the city.  The total trip will be 4 hours and 3 bars long.  Stay for as much as you can handle!  The cost of the cable car is $25.  We don't have all the details of the particular bars yet, but we will update this as soon as we know.  You will need ID, drink money, and a willingness to get dowwwwn. The ride will probably be pretty cool from bar to bar, so dress accordingly.
  • We will have a narrated cable car tour of "The City".  This tour is for everyone, locals and tourists alike.  The cable car will pick us up at 1939 Mason Street Friday at 11 am.  We will cruise the streets of San Francisco for about 3 hours with 3 - 4 stops for pictures, stretching our legs, and eating. Be sure to join us to check out the unique sites and people from the classic San Francisco transportation. The cost is $25 per person.
  • On Saturday we will see you all in Golden Gate Park at 3:00.  The Atrium restaurant in downtown San Francisco will host the reception.
  • Monday night the Oakland A's take on the Detroit Tigers at the McAfee Coliseum with a sponsored firework show as the finale of the evening.  The game starts at 7:05 pm, but we can all meet at the Atrium Plaza area before riding BART over to Oakland.  Rendezvous between 5 and 5:30 pm outside the Atrium in downtown San Francisco.  Then experience modern Bay Area travel on the BART subway train that should get us under the bay and to the coliseum well before game time.  Tickets for the game are $10 bleacher seats (not assigned seating), and the round trip BART ticket is $6.50.  We plan on arriving early in order to all sit together.
  • To start the 4th of July celebration we are going all American with a BBQ picnic in Golden Gate Park including burgers, hot dogs, and all of the fixings with a volleyball net and Frisbee for fun.   Meet us at Speedway Meadow at J.F.K. Drive and 25th Avenue in the park.  Again the weather can vary, so dress comfortable but have something warm just in case.
  • As for the originally planned boat tour, we ran into a few different issues securing the boat for our party, and decided that it would be a suggested activity, but something that we are not planning as a group. To reserve yourself though there are a few different companies that do tours of the bay, and I am pretty sure most of them do a special 4th of July cruise.
Hornblower cruises is one that we have talked to, and you can see a little of there information online including the 3 different options they have at  http://www.hornblowerholidays.com/San-Francisco/san-francisco-fourth-of-july.asp.  You can also call them at 1.888.HORNBLOWER - (1.888.467.6256).  The hornblower boat is a nice large one with plenty of great views from both inside and out.
We also talked to Commodore Events, and they seem pretty nice as well.  Their
website is http://www.commodoreevents.com.  And their phone number is 1.877.346.4000.
For something a little different (although I have not been on this one) there is also the Adventure Cat.  They do not have prices listed online, but they do have a little more information here: http://www.sfelectrictour.com/tours/Catarmaran_bay_cruise.html, and the phone number is 877-474-3127.
There is also the Red and White fleet at http://www.redandwhite.com/index.asp.  They do cruises and sunset cruises, but they have yet to put up their summer schedule.  But if you feel like checking around their phone number is 415-901-5254.

The Ceremony

July 1st, 2006 at 3:00pm
Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Garden
Golden Gate Park
John F. Kennedy Drive
Between Great Highway
and 47th Avenue
San Francisco, CA
the garden center of our ceremony site
Driving directions from yahoo will get you to the closest intersection.  Simply follow John F Kennedy Drive into the park to find the ceremony site. You can't miss the Dutch Windmill. In the picture below it is circled in red.  Here's a map of Golden Gate Park.

Parking in the park may not be readily available, so we highly recommend that you take a taxi if you are staying in San Francisco.  But if you do drive, we ask that you park across the Great Highway in the (free) parking lot.  In the picture below you can see the Great Highway between the park and the beach (below the red circle).  There should be parking there, but it can get busy as well.

The Reception
Following the ceremony there will be a reception, dinner, and dancing.  The Atrium restaurant will begin serving appetizers in the courtyard after 4:00pm.  The bride and groom should be making their grand entrance around 5:00pm.

Driving directions from the ceremony site.  Please note, the first left onto the Great Highway should take you Northbound.
There will be a lot of people leaving the ceremony site, so sharing a cab shouldn't be a problem.

The Gift Registry

Dear Guests,
We look forward to your presence on our special day. Of course, all we ask is your presence. If you cannot attend, your thoughts and prayers are appreciated. We do realize that many of you may wish to give us a wedding gift to commemorate our union together. Since we already have most of the traditional wedding gift items, we have decided to offer our guests a popular new wedding gift alternative - our honeymoon registry. This will allow you to help us create the honeymoon memories that will last us a lifetime.  We are planning a 7 night honeymoon in Tahiti, getting a chance to visit two islands, Moorea and Bora Bora.  We look forward to exploring,  laying on the beach, and island  cocktails.  Please check out our registry at www.thehoneymoon.com for some of the exciting opportunities that await us in the French Polynesian islands. Thank you!
You can also check out a few household items that we need at Crate&Barel.  You can even shop online.
Love,
Josh and Lisa
