Artist Statement :

I love to travel and in 2001 I brought along my easel for my first trip overseas. Here began a new inspiration for my paintings that I continue to pursue. I work mostly in oil and prefer a loose, expressive approach with an emphasis on texture and color variation. Beginning on a toned surface, pigment is applied in layers using palette knives, brushes and towels. I like to start with a solid idea while allowing myself the freedom to explore the boundaries as the process takes its own direction. I am more concerned with capturing a sense of feeling or atmosphere than creating a realistic rendition of a subject. Most importantly, I try to approach each work differently while continuously seeking new ways to challenge myself.
