Me-109

(updated 5/19/02)

When I began tweaking Rowan's Battle of Britain, I installed some of Capt. Farrel's beautiful skins, as well as some of the other fantastic modications by BoB enthusiasts linked on the left.  I wanted a very specific "skin" for the Me-109, which I accomplished above.

Below you'll find several other mods by myself or other BoB enthusiasts.  Note, some of these modifications will be found in BDG releases.

Eric Mantelet's 109 gunsight shift (centered gunsight for those who play with head bobbing options on).

Thanks to Eric Mantelet for some 110 Emblem Variants

Pack 1, Pack 2, and Pack 3

My Stuka no mirror tail (thanks to Viper-)

BoB aircraft LOD increase (increases the high Level of Detail of the BoB aircraft to a distance of 10000M).  Best left for high end cpu's.  This mod may cause a fps hit with many planes in the air.

Mixed aircraft LOD (reduces the high Level of Detail to 2500, but increases the medium Level of Detail planes to a *much* larger distance).  This may be best for mid range cpu's.

Decreased aircraft LOD (eliminates the high Level of Detail planes for improved fps).  May improve fps for low end systems.

I also decided to see what I could do with the propeller (see below).  Additionally, you can try my Transparent airplane glass (which still allows mirrors).

New fadeprop!  (easy to see through 9_5_03)

Lighter Prop

Black prop fix for Luftwaffe (no yellow tip prop!).

FSM Version of above Luftwaffe prop fix.

If you've noticed FSM references or have downloaded a file that is designed for FSM installation, you may be wondering what FSM is.  Well, it's a handy utility made by Viper-, which allows easy file and skin management (but it also works with other objects, such as terrain, clouds, etc.  Go to Viper's site (linked on the left) and try it.  It can be a bit tricky to setup initially, but once you use it, you'll see why it's worth it.

Below are some Sounds that you may prefer:

Less annoying radio calls

  Fuel sputter sound

Lower volume RAF throttle warning (or remove the throttle warning completely),

 reduced wind buffeting noise,

Machine guns (6/5/02: included an updated 20mm cannon).

Different 303 caliber options (rename these to gunbrwn to test),

"gunempty" sound with 7.9MM and 20MM cannon.

We also have a new small sound enhancement done by Michael2.  This is some of the flyby and engine sounds, which I resampled for a smaller download.  I hope I did them justice, as they are nice.  However, I'm not sure I have too much web space available, as the original download is 1.4MB, whereas this is ~400k.  This should merely be viewed as a test.  If enough people like them, I may post the originals.  I also wish I had a faster internet connection, as would then even be able to email them.
