What is Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)?

AAC is any communication method that supplements or substitutes for speech.  Examples include gestures, sign language, pictures, writing, or communication devices that produce speech output.

Who can benefit from AAC?

Anyone who is not able to meet his or her communication needs using natural speech can benefit from some form of AAC.
