After the Hungarian Revolution, many refugees spread out over Europe. Some of
these children were placed with the Irish Red Cross in the west of Ireland. My mother Joan McMahon
brought a young girl home to live with us in Ardee in 1957.
She was 2. Her name was Koti Somodi. Koti, second from right in this photo taken
in England in 1965 - 1967 with her
stepmother and two siblings.
In 1958, her father Janos
Somodi (Somody) reclaimed her and they moved to England, near London - where he
worked with Lucas the electrical company. He was an industrial / electrical
engineer. He had a sister called Teriki (Terika). He was originally from
Budapest - perhaps Goya. We lost track of them after that. It is possible
they moved back to Hungary after 1965 when his mother died. If you have any suggestions on how
