My grandfather Maj. Gen. WRE Murphy - in 1922 was the first Irish Commissioner of the Dublin Metropolitan Police - this is an early 1920's photo of Garda Siochana (Irish Police) Headquarter's Staff. 1922 - Following is a picture of the Irish Government taking over Dublin Castle - former headquarters of the Royal Irish Constabulary. I am told my grandfather can be seen at left in uniform. (it is not clear to me) |

My mother, Joan Murphy lived in Dublin Castle as a baby, while papa was Commissioner of the Dublin Metropolitan Police. It as a very damp building and her brother Jack became sick. |
