Formation and purpose of the work
The formation of this book sees, as its genesis, my interest in the historical period from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  My study of alcohol and its manifestations and portrayals through the media of postcards and envelopes led to my formation of a collection of paper related memorabilia.  This interest gradually evolved into a collection of material specifically related to the subject of temperance and those individuals and groups who championed the prohibition cause.  In that regard, the compilation of this information is a study of the life of Billy Sunday, the great evangelist and social cause leader of that time.

521 Chronological Campaign Stops or Preaching Appearances

Legend:  The campaign stop numerical designations of nnn.nn denote the chronological order of Billy Sunday's campaign stops or preaching appearances.  Where Billy appeared at other sites within the timeframe of the major campaign stops they are listed below the major stop. In some instances where only a year date is known, those particular stops have an estimated position in the chronology.  That approximation is based on the location of the stop and a logical speculation as to when Billy appeared there.  The various postcards relating to the particular stop are catalogued by a small letter suffix added to the chronological campaign stop number.
