“All Wined Up”

20x24” Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas

$450

My toy monkey fascination has found expression in this surreal still life- (or IS it a still life??) As with many of my paintings, I like to give a glimpse of what might happen, and in my world these winsome little creatures would easily swing into noisy musical action just as soon as you leave the room…

The brass keys in their backs have nothing to do with the frivolity- they're "all wined up" from a brush with the grape!

Two bottles of red wine have obviously been well enjoyed. Nearly empty, they rest upon a highly reflective black surface with two full wine glasses. Perched on the rim of one is a tiny wind-up monkey (perhaps a small Steiff?). His accordion is poised and ready to play and his tiny black bead eyes are shining with anticipation.

The drummer and violin player are antique mechanical toy monkeys that collectors might look for from Germany or Japan. Their slightly matted, nappy old “fur” and porcelain or bisque faces show their age. The big guy in the striped trousers, while still vintage- is a more popular design. Some versions have the eyes roll as he frantically clangs his cymbals- somewhat frightening- truly intriguing!!

The many realistic details in this painting invite close inspection. Is that a monarch butterfly on the wine label or is it something more simian in nature? Combined with its element of surrealism/fantasy (“Will they…?), “All Wined Up’ is sure to provoke many a comment!

The sides of this gallery wrapped canvas have been painted, eliminating the need for a frame.  As always, my canvases come sealed in back with acid free materials and are ready to hang. “All Wined Up” has been finished with several coats of a protective acrylic varnish, and is titled, signed and dated on the side, and a certificate of authenticity is included.

Measuring twenty inches by two feet , this large canvas has a richly swirled burnt sienna and gold background and would be a striking addition, not to mention a sure conversation piece- to any collection.

“Beach Collection”

11x14” Acrylic on canvas board

framed under glass

$300

An inveterate shell collector, I find it hard to leave the beach without tucking at least a few new treasures into my pockets...

Consequently, I had more than enough inventory to set up this summery still life...! The background of this 11x14" painting is a pale green, featuring an old Ball glass mason jar filled with seashells and sand. I'm always captivated at the distortions glass causes, and was especially pleased at how the shells appeared behind the jar's raised writing. In contrast to the shiny smoothness of the glass, a craggy, highly textured starfish leans against it.

I have matted this panel in white and placed it into a silver finish frame with a rope detail (see below for photo).Under glass, this piece overall measures approximately 18x21". I have sealed up the back with high quality, acid free materials and attached eyehooks and wire for hanging. A certificate of authenticity is included.

"Beach Collection" can bring memories of sun swept days at the shore and the satisfaction of small treasures into any room in which it is hung.

“Martini Pitcher”

16x20” Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas

       $350

Except for perhaps eating the olives, there are few things more fun and certainly nothing glamorous than the creation of a martini… Nestled in pitcher or shaker, the sound of ice rattling to get the contents just the right icy temperature swirls with the sharp smell of vermouth and end up in a glittering martini glass. What a process!!

The background of this 16x20" gallery wrapped canvas has been painted a striking red and black and continues around the sides to eliminate the need for a frame. A deep green bottle of vermouth stands behind and shines through a classic martini. The glass’s icy contents have obviously just been poured from the glittering glass pitcher next to it. Their images are reflected in the highly polished black surface upon which they sit.

This canvas comes sealed in back with acid free materials and eye hooks with wire are in place for immediate hanging. It has been finished with several coats of a glossy acrylic varnish and is titled, signed and dated on the side.. A certificate of authenticity is included.

From the juicy olives to the crystal stirrer to the masses of glittering reflections, this painting adds up to an eye-catching, sophisticated addition to your collection!

The gloss varnish on this piece makes it very difficult to photograph.

Please be assured that any white glare or texture created

by reflection does not appear in the actual painting.
