There are 12 divisions in 6 bureaus an agent could potentially work under, though only 7 are available when the character is generated. (The initially-available division names are italicized in the list below.) The prerequisites are requirements for entering the division at any time, including when the agent's career begins. The starting points package allocates 3 points of the 5-point buy for the agent. The agent is free to allocate the other 2 points as they wish, including increasing points assigned to those required by their bureau. Agents which enter a bureau at a later time are not required to adjust their skill allocation, though an administrator could choose to disqualify an agent who is obviously deficient in the skills appropriate to the functions of a particular bureau.
The bureaus and divisions are as follows:
Division: Assassination
Prerequisites: Either Agility and Strength both Good or Coordination and Intelligence both Good
Starting Points Package: 3 points in Fighting skills
Description: The Assassination bureau is charged with the elimination of human targets. They are competent with weapons and/or hand-to-hand combat, and may have some knowledge of poisons, explosives, or other means of dispatching a target. They will often appear on a team of agents to provide combat prowess, or to eliminate a specific target during the course of the mission.
Division: Protection
Prerequisites: Either Agility and Strength both Good or Coordination and Perception both Good
Starting Points Package: 2 points in Fighting skills, 1 in Social skills
Description: The Protection Division is the categorical opposite of the Assassination bureau. These agents protect the lives of specific targets who may be sought out by enemy factions. They must be competent in a fight, and yet capable of managing their targets and identifying threats.
Division: Administration
Prerequisites: At least 10 Mission points in each of four other bureaus
Description: Administrators are the brains of the Agency. They determine which agents will take which missions, coordinate between the various offices of the Agency around the world, and evaluate Agency priorities. Every facet of the Agency's activities passes under the scrutiny of the Administrators. They are almost never seen in the field.
Division: Special Agents
Prerequisites: At least 10 Mission points in each of two other bureaus and Agility, Charm, Coordination, Intelligence, Perception, Strength, and Willpower must all be Good
Description: Special Agents are the handservents of the Administrators. They are responsible for anything and everything that needs to be done that cannot or should not be handled through normal Agency channels. They are part gopher, part cleaner, part internal affairs. Only agents with significant success are considered for this duty.
Division: Investigation
Prerequisites: Intelligence and Perception both Good or Charm and Willpower both Good
Starting Points Package: 2 points in Social or Street skills, 1 point in Technical or Intrusion skills
Description: Investigators acquire the information -- typically referred to as intelligence -- upon which the future activities of the Agency depend. The forté of agents in this bureau is the acquisition of information that is not meant to be public. Given the variety of ways to accomplish this objective, their skill base is the most varied.
Division: Infiltration
Prerequisites: Perception Great and Willpower Good
Starting Points Package: 2 points in Street skills, 1 point in Intrusion skills
Description: Infiltrators are a special branch of the Investigation bureau in which all of the agents put their lives on the line to work their way inside enemy organizations. Often working solo, these agents are at supreme risk at all times. Few agents should consider starting in this division.
Division: Confiscation
Prerequisites: Coordination Great
Starting Points Package: 3 points in Intrusion skills
Description: Confiscators acquire physical items considered vital to the Agency. They may be items of value, utility, or potential intelligence. Whatever the case, Confiscators make it their business to separate items from their current owners, often without being detected before, during, or after the item changes ownership.
Division: Logistics
Prerequisites: Agility and Intelligence Good
Starting Points Package: 2 points in Knowledge/Sciences skills, 1 point in Technical skills
Description: The Logisticts bureau provides the backbone of most operations. The presence of the right equipment in the right places at the right times is often the key to a successful mission, and these agents can make that happen. Everything from micro-gadgets to yachts and aircraft fall under their purview.
Division: Technical
Prerequisites: Intelligence Great
Starting Points Package: 2 points in Technical skills, 1 point in Knowledge/Sciences skills
Description: Technicians are the suppliers of gadgets, gizmos, sophisticated electronics, documents, and other tools of the trade to field agents. Technicians do not often appear in the field, unless their technical ability is required by a field team.
Division: Specialty
Prerequisites: At least 5 MP in the Technical Division and one Technical or Knowledge (either) skill at Superb
Description: Specialists have spent some time in the technical bureau and have some area for which they are an acknowledged expert. They may be called upon to support technicians, administrators, analysts, or even field agents.
Division: Operations
Prerequisites: At least 5 MP in each of three other bureaus
Description: Operators are the agents charged with running field teams. They will often coordinate resources between field agents and the administration at the agency, as well as interact with the technicians, specialists, and so on assigned to the team. In rare cases, a particularly capable team of agents may be deployed to the field without an operator. Some operators also manage a number of agents who are deployed individually.
Division: Analysis
Prerequisites: At least 5 MP in each of three other bureaus including the Investigation Bureau
Description: After spending some time in the field an agent's analytical skills may allow her to join the analysts. These are the agency staff members who review field reports and other intelligence, as well as the physical items returned from the field, and write opinions and analyses which provide the agency administration with much of its material for decision-making. Analysts rarely enter the field in that capacity, except when their expertise in a subject area is needed close at hand by a field team.
