Series 4: "Immigration" My empathy for the position of immigrants sprang from observation of the struggles of my parents. Although they could not have been more highly educated, their potential would be cramped in thousands of ways, large and small, because of language barriers and racism. I am sobered by the knowledge that many immigrants and refugees contend with yet harsher circumstances.
