Dear Parents,

The Advent Season is here. We are preparing our hearts and our lives for the arrival of our Savior. The signs of the season are everywhere here at St. Isidore.

Christmas Concert – Our annual Chrismas Concert is this Sunday, Dec. 7th at 3pm. See the note from Mrs. Leix for more details. All 1st-5th graders are expected to participate.

Barnes and Noble Fund Raiser – Sunday, Dec. 7th is also the day that Barnes and Noble on Army Trail Rd. has offered us a special fundraising opportunity. You can shop there all day long and SIS will receive a percentage of your purchase. There will also be guest readers! See flyer in envelope for more details.

Mass for Feast of Immaculate Conception – Our all school mass next week will be at 8:15am on Monday, Dec. 8th to celebrate the Feast of Immaculate Conception. There will be no Wednesday school mass.

Auction Raffle Update – Congratulations to Mr. Buckley. He was the winner of the Nov. Early Bird Drawing. Don't forget to buy your tickets in time for the Dec. Early Bird Drawing on Dec. 19th. The prize for that drawing is two tickets to the hit musical, Wicked. Tickets can be purchased in the school office or after mass on Dec. 13th and 14th.

Band Concert and Piano Recital – Our young piano students will be performing short recital on Wed., Dec. 17th at 2:45 in the Chapel Lower Level. Our band students will be presenting a short band concert on Mon., Dec. 15th at 1:30 in the Chapel Lower Level. We are very proud of our talented students!

H.S.A. News – H.S.A. is busy wrapping presents these days for our Santa's Workshop. Students were given the opportunity to shop Thursday and Friday of this week. Next week, H.S.A. is sponsoring "The Legend of St. Nick". There will be 2 different performances - one for older and one for younger students. Family Reading Nights was a huge success. Thank you to those of you who worked and attended. The Book Fair was the best ever and we will be purchasing many new books for the library in the coming months.

Reconciliation – All students in Gr. 3-8 will be attending a reconciliation service next Tuesday in the church. Father Jerry has invited several priests to be available so that each child will have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Live Nativity – Mark you calendars for the 6th gr. performance of the Live Nativity on Friday, Dec. 19th at 10:00 in the Chapel.

About

St. Isidore was a farm hand. He was born near Madrid, Spain in 1070. He attended mass every morning at a Madrid church before he set out for work as a farm laborer. Isidore and his wife vowed celibacy in gratitude for a miracle which saved their son from drowning in a well. They were known for their holiness and care of the poor. St. Isidore died May 15, 1130. He was canonized with other Spaniards - St. Ignatius Loyola, St. Francis Xavier, and St. Teresa of Avila on March 12, 1622.
