where it all started
My career began in 1976 when I started collecting music and learning how to DJ. By 1978 I was working in nightclubs thanks to people like Fred Kulstad, Dana Andrews, 'Simple' Simon, Paul Curtis and many, many others who were my great mentors in Seattle. Now 33 years later, I'm still playing music, still having a ball and have out lasted everyone else. Yes, I'm officially the longest working nightclub dj in the Pacific Northwest.
visit.me
I'm at The Cuff Complex every Sunday for their Tea Dance. The fun starts at 6 PM and the first few hours is mostly classic disco. But the format is not set in stone and I always take requests. This mean if you want to dance to the B-52's, no problem. It's all about creating something special for each and every crowd.
And that's not all! The fun really heats up between 8 and 9 PM when we slide into the newer dance hits of today. Think KNHC style, uptempo and sweaty! The fun is scgeduled to continue until midnight, however we always run over and are usually there until 1 AM or longer, it's just that much fun. The Cuff Complex is located at 1533 13th Ave on Capitol Hill. We pride ourselves on maintaining a safe and fun dance environment for our customers. Drop by the booth and say hi.
got.requests?
You can always email me at dj.john.england@gmail.com if there is something you would like to hear and would like for me to bring in. My latest requests have been (on the disco side) Isley Brothers, Grace Jones and George Duke. On the newer music side, people are loving Jennifer Hudson's "Spotlight," Georgie Porgie's "Can You Feel That Sound" and Natasha Bedingfield's "Angel (the Chicane Club Mix)." Hot music, hot men, and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence...do we know to know how to party or what!
