 Under Contract
Woo hoo! We finally found a sucker buyer for our current home. We actually received a low-ball offer from a couple Sunday morning. We countered as there was no way we would accept their offer. After we countered their offer we got a call from another broker saying she had some clients that were going to make a (much better) offer as well. Sure enough, we got the second offer and it was just a small bit off what we needed to make all of our plans with the new house work. We countered them and they accepted so we are all happy. I guess it is a couple moving from Virginia that have not seen the house in person at all. They saw all the on-line photos, virtual tour and their (local) realtor sent them about 50 more photos. However, they have already sold their current house and are pre-approved for the loan for our house so there should be no major hurdles as far as money goes. We are supposed to close July 21st so that leaves us on the street for a little over a month until the new house is done. Minor detail though.

 Driveway
We now have a driveway!

In addition, they put up all the doors and rails in the house. This is the loft rail overlooking the family room.

 Happy Father's Day!
I want to send out a belated Happy Father's Day to all you dad's out there. I know that my own day was excellent. It started off with a new bike jersey from the family. Most of you know that I'm generally not a loud, flashy person and avoid things that are. However, one of the few reasons I might were something like this is if it promoted beer (ummmmm, beer). There is a great little brewery in Kona, Hawai, Kona Brewing Company,i that has some beers I really like. My favorite is the Fire Rock Pale Ale. However, they now have a bike jersey for their Longboard Lager.

After getting properly attired for the day, I left to meet my friend and co-worker Steve so we could head up to Walker Ranch. I rode there last year so you can read my previous post for more information and some photos. It was a good ride. Both of us had blood coming out of us but neither was a bike crash (go figure that!). Rding took up most of the day. For the afternoon, we packed up the kids and went over to Suzanne's parents for BBQ and beer. Not too bad for a dad of only six years!

Here is one photo I took of Steve (you can understand why people go to Walker Ranch).

 First 8 Tracks, Now Cassettes
I have to say that I was not surprised when I read this article that says that the casette tape is about dead. I honestly can say that I don't recall the last tape I bought. Although I had quite a few of them (over 200), I got rid of most of them when we cleaned the house out in preparation for the move. I decided that I didn't need a copy if one of the folloiwng was true:

  1. I already owned it on CD.

  2. It was a copy of another tape or record (poor quality)

  3. I was not interested in buying another copy

So about the only thing left were items that I only had on tape that don't want to get rid of until I have a high quality legal recording.

 House Update 06/13/2005
I'm a couple days behind (more on that in another post) but wanted to give the latest scoop on the new house. They got the painting of the exterior mostly complete and have dry-walled the interior. Although you can't see it in these photos, but they are just about ready to pour the concrete for the driveway, front walkway and the back stairs. We also think they will be texturing the walls soon as well.

This photo, taken just before sunset, shows the house all painted. It is kind of hard to tell but it is a light green but definately changes appearance depending on the lighting conditions. It can go from green to blue to grey. Really cool!

This photo shows the drywall in the family room looking from the kitchen nook.

This last post is looking from the family room at the fireplace, living room, dining room, and my study.

 House Updates
I'm sure many of you are getting bored of the whole house update but as the entire process is consuming my life, I don't have many other choices to pick from. It appears the last update was May 23rd so it has been just over two weeks since I last made all of you suffer. Since the last update, quite a bit of progress has been made, the roof and gutters were installed, the house had all of the wiring (electrical, cable, phone & CAT5), the stone has been installed on front of the house, they installed garage doors, and they have put insulation into the entire house. Suzanne said with the insulation that it has stopped feeling like a bunch of boards put up and more like a house. I expect dry wall will be happening in the next some time this week with a possibility of external painting happening as well. We did have a small issue that was resolved quickly and correctly. We had requested three outlets in special locations that were not where they were supposed to be. We noticed it the Saturday over the holiday weekend so they were not able to get it until Tuesday or Wednesday.

The latest photo from the front of the house.

This photo shows the insulation in Lindsay's room.

The other thing that has happened in regards to the houses is that we just lowed the asking price of our current hosue. We've had about forty showings (good traffic according to our realtor) but no offers and no negative feedback so we are going under the assumption it is priced too high (contrary to everything else happening in the area). The number of showings has picked up quick a bit recently. I think we've had 8 showings over the last 6 days. Hopefully we get a serious buyer soon!

 Tooth Fairy
I had to play the Tooth Fairy again this past weekend. Less dramatic than last time and she was pretty brave about it too. I actually got busted two times trying to sneek money into her room so had to wait until early Monday AM before she was up to do it.

Coming Soon - Mountain Bike Videos
This new disposable digital camcorder could easily be mounted to a helmet or handlebar. I Ithink my next project will be to shoot a mountain bike video -- I'll just have to make sure I don't start it until the downhill ;)

 Memorial Day Weekend
The Bullock household had another stellar Memorial Day Weekend. Although there were no trips to the emergency room this time, last year Lindsay broke her arm, it did not go as planned. Saturday started off with a bang. Suzanne scheduled to take her car in for routine maintenance. As it was going to take a little longer (2-3 hours), she didn't want to wait so I loaded up the kids and followed her over. Her appointment was at about 9:30 and they said her car would be ready at 12:30 and they closed at 1:00. It really didn't make much sense to go home at this point so we had some breakfast and ran some errands around the area to kill time. Unfortunately during this time Suzanne started feeling worse and worse. By the time we made it home she just wanted to go to bed.

The kids and I gave her some quiet time and decided to go outside. They were blowing bubbles while I got to mow, trim, pick up dog poop, and fix some edging that was coming lose (as we just got more stakes during our errands while waiting for the car). After working and playing outside for a while we were supposed to go to a friend's son's graduation but as Suzanne was still not feeling well, I decided to stay home. The kids and I watched the first couple original Star Wars movies. We went out for dinner and that was about it. Sunday Suzanne was feeling better and we had a showing so we packed up and headed up to Boulder for lunch at Walnut Brewery and some time cruising the mall. The kids each bought a toy with their own cash. Sunday evening we noticed that our refrigerator didn't seem to be keeping stuff cold. We put a thermometer in it and sure enough it was almost 60 degrees. Crap! We had to throw most everything out and get a cooler going for the few items that we could salvage.

Monday AM was just as fun. Of course with the holiday we were not going to get anyone to come look at the fridge without paying an arm and a leg so it was just a matter of waiting another day. We noticed that the freezer was also getting warmer (up to 21 from 11) so decided we better put everything in the garage freezer. Before moving everything we decided to clean the outdoor freezer. We hauled the freezer out to the front yard and got the hose and some suds out and got to work. The afternoon was pretty much a bust after that. The kids were watching TV (got to watch the second half of The Empire Strikes back) and Suzanne was resting while I was farting around the house. The good news was that we had tickets to go to the Rockies game and watch the fireworks. The day just got colder and colder and the rain was coming down harder. We headed for dinner before the game to Ted's Montana Grill. Dinner was good as usual but when we got in the car we found out that the start of the game was delayed which meant we would be looking at keep the kids up until 11:00 or so (in reality is was about midnight when they started) which just won't work. So after some debate and soul searching, we decided will the cold weather, rain, and what would amount to a very long night for the kids that we would have to skip the game. Instead, we took them to go see the new animated movie, Madagascar. It was pretty funny and we had a good time but ending up eating the cost of the Rockies tickets so it was an expensive night.

Luckily we all had the day off on Tuesday. Suzanne went in for a hair cut and I took the kids to Panera Bread for breakfast. Suzanne then met some friends at a nearby park for a play date while I finally went mountain biking at White Ranch (did I happen to mention it rained a lot over the weekend and kept us indoors???). My ride was long and hard but definitely lots of fun. I finished in time to get home by 5:00 before the refrigerator repair guy was going to show up. They gave us a three hour window (5-8) so I took the kids to Schlotzsky's Deli for dinner as we did not have any food in the house. So another $200 later we have a working fridge but not much to show for all the money we spent over the weekend.
