 Weekend Update
It was a good weekend that went by pretty quick once again. I only worked half a day on Friday as I went up to Winter Park with Steve to do some mountain biking. We actually got lift tickets so that we could (mostly) focus on downhill. It was a total blast. We did four runs that covered just over twenty-five miles. No crashes, flats or other annoyances during the riding. The weather was in the upper fifties and low sixties with no signs of moisture; again perfect. However, we did have a little excitement on the drive home. My bike tried to take its life and leapt off of my roof rack. The thing is that it was strapped onto the roof rack (along with the metal bar that fell off that is supposed to hold it upright) so it only made it to the edge of the roof. We stopped, corrected the issue (for the short term) and got going again. Luckily it was only a couple more miles before dropping Steve off at work so when we arrived I switched my bike to the good side and got on home.

On Saturday AM we took the kids to soccer which they had fun playing. In the afternoon we dropped the kids off at my in-laws for a sleep over. Then Suzanne and I went to the Nationals game (they pounded the Rockies 8-0) and out for dinner afterwards. We went to dinner at the Rocky Mountain Diner. Suzanne and I have been eating there for about ten years now. They make everything from scratch and do a great job of it. I've tried many different things there and they have all been excellent.

Sunday we had a second meeting with Home and Garden Landscapes to view their design and estimate. We also had our first meeting with Mariposa Gardens. We were very impressed with the designer from Mariposa. She is a friend of a co-worker which is how I found out about her. We meet with the third landscaper today and should make a decision by the end of the week. After meeting with the landscapers, we picked up the kids and ran a few errands. We are starting to buy a few more items for the new home as we are now 11 days from closing! Purchases this weekend included a garage door opener with installation and ceilings fans and switches (installation provided by a Ryland handyman!). I think we will probably be purchasing other items over the upcoming days such as furniture for the family room, a new TV for the family room, lamps, coffee tables, bedroom furniture for Lindsay, and who knows what else. After errands, we had dinner at the Texas Roadhouse. Although they are a national chain, food and service were both very good. We don't go there often because more often than not the wait is an hour long unless you happened to do call ahead seating (yeah, like I can think that far ahead).

 Locked Out!
We've been locked out of our new house. Rat bastards! Ever since they starting installing tile and appliances, the crews at the house have been keeping it locked. This has not been a deterrent though as we could just go to the sales office and grab a key to let ourselves in. However, the keys you get at the office will work to let you into any of the homes in progress. Once a house gets to the final stages, they don't want anybody going into the house and messing it up. For example, they've had people track mud through nearly complete homes and the crews have to go back and clean everything all over and/or replace items that were in brand new condition. We've hit that point where the crew doesn't want anything happening to our house so if we want in, we will have to get a key from the construction folks during their normal hours. We really don't need in, it has just been nice to nose around the house and see where progress is happening. As it is just about done, we really aren't seeing much progress day to day like we were in the early stages.

This weekend we met with the first of three potential landscapers and discussed ideas with her. She is the owner of a small company called Home & Garden Landscapes whose claim to fame is they are the only child and pet friendly specialist in Colorado. It was just the initial meeting but the others will be trying to beat them as we have been very impressed so far.

 Soccer Pictures
A few photos from Lindsay's (first) and Alex's soccer game this past Saturday.

Alex's first goal (of four) on the day.

Lindsay getting in the action.

Linsday on the throw-in. Alex, on the left, has his finger in his mouth because he lost his first tooth in his sleep the night before.

Linsday on the way to her first goal. Ironically enough, the photo of that goal looks amazingly like the back of my wife's back as if she jumped up in excitement for some strange reason.

Passing? We don't need no stinkin' passing!

 Call the Press
Call the press! I've discovered a social life again! :O Actually, Friday night, my wife discovered a social life which means Daddy night just happens to be going on at the same time. Daddy night consisted of dinner at Dewey's followed by swimming at the townhome pool. Saturday the kids (Lindsay's first game!) had soccer and we had errands including chauffeuring the dog to summer resort #2 (AKA Suzanne's parents) followed by steaks on the grill, for the humans, with the Mulkey's. Sunday morning I went riding with Steve and his neighbor, Dave. We went to Deer Creek Canyon. It was a lot of fun. Dave and I were mostly going the same speed on the uphills but then for the downhills it was Steve and me in front. We got the ride in early enough to where the heat wasn't too bad. I did have one flat which makes two for last week, and three for the month which is more than I've had in the last 3 years! However, everyone did comment on the pit crew efficiency and quickness I displayed while changing the most recent flat. After riding, the family went to the pool again and out for more errands and lunch before returning back home. Sunday night meant homework (mostly reading with the kids) and bath night.

 Steve Atwater
Congratulations to Steve Atwater who was just elected to the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame. You could always count on him to produce a big play or at least scare shit out of opponents receivers and even running backs (just ask Christian Okoye)! Atwater was a role model on and off the field. We could hope he follows Mr. Elway into the HoF in the future!?!?
