 Yeti Power
OMFG! I went riding yesterday at Waterton Canyon and did the singletrack loop where the Colorado Trail meets up with a loop that goes towards Roxborough Park and then back to Waterton Canyon. The weather was beautiful and tons of people were out enjoying it. It was the first extended ride (more than 10 miles and least 90 minutes) that I have done on Marta (the new bike). I am very pleased with how she is doing (with the possible exception of the some chain problems due to the bent rear derailleur from my very first ride). She is climbing as well as my old bike but it eats up the flats and downhills. On the last part of the singletrack downhill of the lollipop before you get back to Waterton Canyon there is a really technical section. Lots of rocks and at one point you have to either go off a nice foot and a half drop or go around through a vicious rock garden. In the past I've always had to stop and/or walked my bike around this section. Yesterday, it wasn't until I blew threw it but I rode it for the first time ever. The Yeti turns very technical sections that were previously unridable into very ridable terrain. Woo hoo!

I think more than the suspension, although it definately helps, the disc brakes and the biggest factor. You have such control of the speed of you bike it is amazing. I'm starting to see more and more hard tails with disc brakes and I understand why. BTW, although I haven't had my computer hooked up to my the demo bikes or my new bike, I determined yesterday that I'm well over my first hundred miles for the year. Yesterday was 20 alone and this week looks to be warm again so I should have at least 150 by weeks end.
