 Colorado Singletrack Photos #3

Here are the remainder of the photos from my Colorado Singletrack trip, from Telluride to Durango, back in August.

Did I mention that we had a hike-a-bike (jee, I wonder why???).  The second photo was from the same section of trail where I tried to rip my thumb nail off (again, more blood).

Did I mention the views on the trip???

Nice view once again!  Maybe next time I can keep riding all the way back to Denver!  Anybody want to volunteer to shuttle me to Telluride so I don't have to ride back to get my car?

This was the sign post at the trail head of our last day.  26 miles of mostly sweet downhill singletrack!  A photo of The Last Supper.

Before the descent into Durango on our final day.  Once again my back is turned.  A photo of the intial descent that we had to take very easy as we were riding on the side of the mountain and mistake would have meant bad news!

Look, an actual photo of me riding!  A nice waterfall to boot.

 Colorado Singletrack Photos #2

I received a CD full of excellent photos from one of my fellow riders on the Colorado Singletrack trip that I did back in August.  As my camera batteries died on the trip (replaced since then but now I want a new camera!), I did not get many photos but want to share these to help give a better view and impression of the trip.  There are a couple of dozen that I am going to post in this post and another that will immediately follow.

The lift from the town of Telluride and a photo approaching the Galloping Goose trail (notice that I'm up front off of my bike as I was leading the way most of the time!).

Of course I had my head turned in the first photo (I'm in the middle) and you can barely see me in the river crossing photo as I chose a different route (can you find me?)

A break from riding.  This was after my first mishap of the trip that drew some blood.  The second photo is an excellent one of one of the many climbs of the trip.

Ahhhh, a descent!  A nice photo from the top of the world during lunch break.

Can you figure out what the first photo is?  I'll give you a hint, it rained a lot.  The second photo is another excellent climb!
Ghost Bike Colorado Singletrack

A photo from the hardest day where we had a large hike-a-bike section due to steepness, many jagged and loose rocks, and lack of oxygen.  See if you can find the dot that is me in the second photo.

 New Family Member

Sorry about the lack of posts but between work and the holiday season, I haven't had much free time to blog.  However, right before Thanksgiving, our family  increased by one.  Don't worry, I haven't been hiding that Suzanne is pregnant or anything.  Ever since our last two cats kicked the bucket, the kids, especially Alex, have wanted to get a new one.  Suzanne was out with the girls and went into Pets Mart, not sure why except that she probably had this planned all along, and looked at the cats.  She called me and said that there was a beautiful cat that I had to see.  The next day, the whole family went and visited Sarah.  We all liked her and decided it was time for a new family member.  None of us liked her name, so we all agreed upon a new one for her, Princess Laya.  We brought her home the Sunday before Thanksgiving.  After arriving in the new and very unfamiliar home, she took about 10-15 minutes downstairs before she went upstairs to stay for the next week.

We waited very nervously for the first encounter between Toby, our chocolate lab, and Laya but it was a non-event.  We don't know much about her history but expect she has been around large dogs before.  She was not nervous, scared or aggressive.  And the most Toby has done, who has been around cats before as well, was to sniff her butt.  He still has to get his daily sniff in just to make sure things still check out.  The other thing that we believe is that she is between 6 and 8 years old.  She is also very vocal.  Likes to talk a lot.  She also loves the kids, but tolerates Suzanne and me.  She is definitely a lover and not a fighter.  After the first week she started to come downstairs and has adjusted very nicely since then.

I've included a couple of Christmas photos of the pets.  I would have posted a photo of Laya earlier but none of them have turned out.  You cannot tell as she is sleeping in this picture, but she has very beautiful green eyes.  There is also a very small white patch on her chest that is not visible but otherwise she is all gray.

 Religion, Rap, and Video Games

Check out this hilarious, but all too true, video on YouTube.com that shows an 8 year old girl slamming Bill O'Reilly.
