"The dinosaur quarry . . . has yielded the bones of 10 species of "terrible lizards," including Apatosaurus, Stegosaurus, and Allosaurus . . ."
— National Park Service T-Shirt Brochure

Dinosaur National Monument? Probably not your first choice of road trip destinations—not as extreme as Moab/Arches or as trendy as Lake Powell—yet, if you (like me) are something of a geek and regularly choose the Discovery Channel over ESPN, DNM is the closest you will ever come to a real 'Jurassic Park.'

DNM spans parts of both North Western Colorado and North Eastern Utah. However, It is on the Utah side of the park, near the thriving metropolis of 'Vernal City.' where the "The Quarry" is located. This ancient sandbar turned cliff face has yielded dinosaur fossils for almost a hundred years (harvesting ceased in 1991.) Today a modern glass and steel 20th century museum covers the site where the bones of so many fantastic creatures accumulated millions of years ago.

This interactive site will never take the place of a trip to the real place. Think of it as a layman's tribute to one of Utah's lesser known attractions.
