Other Housley Lines
Many North American Housley families are not descended from this line of Housley's/Owsley's, but from ancestors who had that surname in England and brought it to the new world with them.
Yet several other lines of Housley's are descended from the same line as was John Housley. The first to use the Housley name that I am aware of was Robert Housley (1749-1859) son of John Owsley and Ann Stephens. Robert's six children (John, Rebecca, James, Thomas, Robert and Howell) continued to use the Housley name. Seven of John Housley's siblings (Robert, Genzeth, Elizabeth, Pleasant, Martha, Caroline and Sarah) are recorded as using the Housley name, while three (William, Crawford and James) are shown as using Ousley. John's uncle, Isaac Housley, brother of Joseph also used the Housley surname.
