What do I get when I hire/book DJCyRo for my event?
With DJCyRo, you get a professionally created set, a high energy set list, and a DJ who has performed over 100 shows and knows how to read an audience.
The most common misconception is that a DJ is hired to just show up and play music. "Heck, my friend can come in and play music from his iPod just as easily", is what some may say. If only it were that easy. A professional DJ must not only have a vast collection of music, but he must also KNOW the music. Growing a vast collection of music takes time and money. In addition to the music, a DJ must have the proper equipment to put on a good performance. Finally, the DJ needs to know how to put it all together; the music, equipment, presentation and show.
Can I pick the music to be
played
?
Most definitely! In fact, I prefer it! During the booking process, request sheets are included in the packet with your contract. These forms include lines for your favorite artists/songs, as well as lines for songs you do not want to hear. You can refer to the music page of this website for song ideas.
Do you take breaks during the show?
Never! Being a technical person by nature, I am always checking the system for functionality. Other than a restroom run, I will be at my gear the entire time. In fact, I may hardly even sit down. I'll pay for this later when I'm an old man.
How interactive are you?
I am not afraid of the microphone! While I'm not a cheesy radio DJ, with that radio DJ voice, I can and often to interact with the audience. This mostly depends on the type of show. For example, at an adult birthday party, or wedding reception, crowd interaction is very common. However, at a teenage dance, or prom, or sweet 16, the teenagers don't really want to hear me unless I have something to announce, they just want pumping music. Children's parties often require interaction, which is something I very much enjoy.
Do you bring a lightshow?
Unless I'm told not to do so, I provide a LED lightshow at every event! These lights can be as small as a few lights fro enhancement, or a full blown club quality show, brought to every event. The LED Lightshow is included FREE on the Basic and Premium packages. Not many DJ's are going to do that. That's part of the value I provide for you!
Do you expect tips/gratuities?
Tips are not expected or required, but will not be refused. My rates are lower than the average DJ, but my value is probably much higher, so a tip 5-10% tip would be very much appreciated.
How do you set your rates?
This is one of the most discussed issues among DJs in the industry. First, I must explain that when you hire a DJ, he does not just work the 4 hours he was booked. Many hours are required to build the play list, acquire new music or requests, and run a business. For a typical 4 hour show, the DJ may actually work 8-12 hours, and if its a wedding, can be more than 16 hours to get ready.
Equipment cost is another aspect to the DJ's rates. Speakers, amplifiers, cables, lights, poles, tables, and more factor into the overhead a DJ must account in his rates in order for his business to make a profit.
Rates are factored into the price of the packages, based on the amount of gear brought to your party and the amount of hours needed. For example, a small party may only require two speakers and a few lights, so the amount of gear is lower, and thus the rate will be lower. A high school dance, however, may require much more equipment, which will raise the rate required. Please contact me for an accurate quote on your party.
