Oil on canvas installation mural 7X28ft.

June 5th 1998 at Zone One Gallery in Old City Philadelphia, John will be having his second one person show entitled "Spirits and Magic in Arcadia" John had this to say in his statement.”To the ancient Greeks, Arcadia was a bucolic wilderness that served as the landscape for many a story of magic and the supernatural. The theme of a magical landscape peopled by gods and men alike had resurgence with artists in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries as many recycled this imagery in a manner which met with the sentiments and tastes of their age. I also am recycling imagery in a manner befitting a more modern context."

"In May 1996 I had my first one person show At Zone One Gallery entitled "Painted Narratives". The work in that Show represented a retrospective view of the work I had done in the Previous four years, struggling to develop a personal style, and to come to an understanding of the visual language that would become central to my work. "A visual language, simply stated, is a system of images or icons and a manner of painting that best communicates symbolic and psychological meaning. Religious icons and Illuminations from many cultural perspectives influence heavily my use of imagery. The work shows strong influence of modern as well as primitive and naive artists, while using as a backdrop the ideal of classical narrative painting."

"This June I will be having my second one person show entitled "Spirits and Magic In Arcadia". These works, completed since 1996 reflect a tightening of focus and purpose .The work has also become more subjective allowing me to be more coherent and direct in my narrative."
