Keep Clam
Ivar Haglund, if he were still alive, would have turned 100 years old yesterday. It was Ivar Haglund Day in Seattle and I missed it. Sorry Ivar. I guess I'll have to wait and celebrate 101.
The Office
I love BBC's The Office, but now I see that NBC is launching an American version. It can't possibly be as good, but it will be interesting to see how they do.

3-D Returns to Theaters
I was watching Jaws III on TV recently (I made it through about ten minutes) and wondered whether 3-D movies would ever return to theaters. Leave it to George Lucas to try to bring it back.
Manipulating Google
Finding ways to get a good search result ranking is big business. I've found that though the concept is simple, actually achieving success is time-consuming and difficult. I have a small business client who wants to be ranked high and it has been a challenge getting him there without spending a ton of his money to pay for better results. But as this article in Wired points out, the key these days is linking. Get enough sites to link to you and you will be ranked high in the "organic" (non-paid) search results.

Get a Job
In case buying a new home and moving wasn't enough of a change for me, I decided to get a new job, too. So, this week I accepted a new job and am now winding things down at my old one. It's an all to familiar scene after changing jobs just one year ago (almost to the day). I'm crossing my fingers that this can be the last big change for some time to come.
Hopefully by the time I get on the bus to start my new commute to downtown Seattle on March 30th I'll have at least most of the new house unpacked and have successfully mowed the lawn a couple of times. Right now I'm still looking for my alarm clock and most of my clothes and don't even own a lawn-mower yet.

Death Penalty Ruling
In a surprising turn-around from the standard U.S. Government policy of "kill first, ask questions... never", the Supreme Court has decided that state-sponsored revenge killings of minors is NOT OK.
"The stark reality is that the United States is the only country in the world that continues to give official sanction to the juvenile death penalty," Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote for the majority.
Thank you, Justice Kennedy.
