Once we get data into a service we still need meta-services that support upload, the rough analog of download proxies. These services need to help with data conversion, aggregation of data from multiple devices, and with the difficult issue of supporting simplistic handheld devices directly attached to potentially powerful services. For this we have an ongoing project with Andy Huang, Ben Ling, and Armando Fox at Stanford University called Appliance Data Services. For more information see
