Tani Tabbal
Tani Tabbal played with Griot Galaxy and many other bands in Detroit during the years I lived there. Last time I saw him play, though, was in Oakland, California, when he was in Geri Allen's band that played at Yoshi's. That was a ways back—in 1991 or 1992.
The top photo, taken at the Detroit Institute of Arts, was shot with available light using 3200 speed T-Max film, which accounts for its graininess.
