July 14th, 2009 Played the Highlanders, and they played tough. Game was thoroughly in doubt till the last inning, but we pulled away at the end with an 11-4 victory.

July 13th, 2009 5th game against the Thundercats was another pretty easy romp -- they are a very nice team, but just need to get a lot more experience. We killed them anyway, 27-5.

July 4th, 2009 4th game against the Chameleons was suprisingly tough -- they can hit, they can field, but it's not clear why they are 0-4. Anyway, we started slow, but kept pouring it on - won 15-6.

July 1st, 2009 3rd game, pretty good performance against a good team - winning 18-8. Meadow View started slow, but snuck back into it... but the hole was too deep.

June 25th, 2009 2nd game, pretty good with a short roster, beating the Highlanders 11-2. There can really only be ONE!

June 20th, 2009 First game of the season against the Thunderbirds is under our belts -- with a Win. Bit of a stat padder, winning 34-2.

June 19th, 2009 2009 Orinda Softball is back, and our first game is tonight!

August 13th, 2008 Took some time to enter the stats for the season so far. We're down to the last game of the regular season still to play, and fought through adversity back into 1st place - win the last game of the season, and we've won the regular season, and get the first seed into the playoffs.

August 1st, 2008 My life has been turned on it's head for the last several weeks, which means that I've not been able to keep up with all of the important things like Softball Stats. (Still playing though...) Orinda going along OK so far... 5 wins, Zero losses. Zero stats entered so far, but the links to the schedule and standings are still up to date.

July 17th, 2008 We've survived a couple of games, and a rash of reschedulings -- but Mangia is back. Schedule has been updated (no stats yet).

June 7th, 2008 Mangia Softball is back! Talked to Mangia, and they have again agreed to sponsor another year of the Defending Champion Mangia Orinda Coed Softball team. This year, however, promises to be tough -- new teams, new challengers, and a surprisingly short season.

The schedule has been added, and should be up to date. I half expect it to change by the time the season starts, however.

June 7th, 2008 Jack's last game was last night, and they played great!

April 20th, 2008 Kids Baseball is back! Jack is playing with the Single A Danville Athletics this year, and his team is off to a great start. Stats are available, game by game, over in the Athletics section to the left.

Note about the stats: These stats are intended to be a fun way to see how each boy is performing. However, given that we have different volunteer scorekeepers taking each game, I flatten all On Base Via Errors to be Singles (normally, a Hit into an Error is typically considered an Out statistically, and RBI also may not get recorded too). For this reason the stats may be a bit inflated.

August 12th, 2007 The Tournament: Mangia wins it 6th Orinda Championship in last 10 years. But it was far from easy. 3 games on a Saturday, and a lot of softball to play.

First game against the G-Nomes, we give up a bunch of runs in the first, but answer back with a bunch more (and pretty much shut them down). Lots of base running, as we win 28-10. Adrian had a great game with 2 homers, and 8 RBI's. Bob hit for the cycle.

2nd game against the VW's, and they came ready to play. We were clearly tired from the first game and never really got into one of those scoring machine grooves -- but when they snuck back and went ahead of us in the 15th inning, we scratched and clawed, and held onto a 15-12 win.

3rd game against Meadow View was a classic sluggers match... with the lead changing back and forth over and over again; inning by inning, we're down by 1, down by 2, down by 1, tied, up by 1, and then BOOM - they score 6. (after we had just gotten out on a 1,2,3 inning). Our last atbats , everyone is tired, but we scrape together 6 very scrappy runs to go ahead by one - including two totally clutch hits from Sandy and Jeff. We're up by one, and we've not been able to stop them at all so far... but we get them to fly out 1,2,3 for a second consecutive championship.

August 12th, 2007 From a stat perspective, phenominal season. For a team that has maybe one tradition "slugger" (Jeff) we turned the home runs on big time this year with an amazing 43 team home runs - up from 9 total last season - I led the team there with 13, Adrian with 12, and Bob and Jeff both had 8.

I had probably the best shot we've ever had at scoring the team "Triple Crown", leading in home runs, average, and RBI's. But on the last day, Adrian went on a hitting tear, and beat me out on RBI's - 46-45 (both beat previous best team record of 38 done by Jeff a couple years ago).

As leadoff batter, Bob scored an amazing 38 runs this year (all by himself). Extrapolating that over the entire season, that meant he scored almost 3 runs a game.

With all of these individual stats, however, they key this year, as it always is that the women hit. Julie won the women's batting crown with a 580 batting average this year, and the worst average on the squad was a 358 average (that's usually middle of the road).

August 5th, 2007 Another doozie of a game - the Chameleons, as we always expect, brought the offense and snuck back into a game that we had a pretty sound lead in. But when the pressure was turned on, it was time for us to turn the offense on, and we scored a bunch of runs in the top of the 7th to win 26-16.

Unfortunately, Meadow View kept on winning, and due to a scheduling snafu managed to accumulate a 11-1 record vs our 10-1. Since we split games against each other, we were hoping for a tie breaker, but they won the regular season by having (and winning) more schedule games. We go into the playoffs with a #2 cede... and we'll know Friday night who we have to play.

August 5th, 2007 Much cleaner game against the VW's than on Monday, as they definitely came ready to play -- but we just kept on hitting and scoring, and held their offense at bay. Win 17-9.

July 31st, 2007 Sloppy, sloppy game -- we uncharacteristically had somewhere around 10 errors, lots of bad throws, but still managed to come away with a win - 18-12, against the Sluggers.

July 28th, 2007 After a rough start, we finished with a good game against AWOL - 17-7.

July 23rd, 2007 Played the VW's tonight, a new team that everyone has been talking about -- and the offense ignited. Everyone hit, we scored every inning, and we scored a ton - winning 37-5. Bob went 6-6 and hit for the cycle. Adrian hit two home runs. Seanna went 6-6. Jeff went 5-5. Top of the lineup to the bottom, everyone hit; and we played D too. Good game against a good team. We play them again in a week and a half, and I think that they will be coming in with the A-team.

July 21st, 2007 Played better this Friday, and beat the G-Nomes 19-4. I got my second 3 homerun game of the season again, with one good shot and "a lot of cheapies".

July 14th, 2007 Got beat by Meadow View -- our game wasn't all that bad, but we just couldn't hit those critical hits. Needed 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th, but went 1, 2, 3. Final score: 7-9.

July 10th, 2007 Beat the SML Sluggers in a surpisingly quiet 18-1 win... Tough one to describe, but I guess the word that captures it is "one-sided". They are one of those nice, recreational company teams that you can tell might be good in a couple of years, but need a couple core players.

June 30th, 2007 We had a good, tough game against Meadow View. We were losing for a while, but then scored when we needed to score, and eaked out a 11-7 win.

June 27th, 2007 Updated schedule. The Sharks dropped out of the league, but we've replaced them with a couple of new games. The original game scheduled against the Sharks is now a game against SML Sluggers, and we have a new game scheduled against Meadow View for Friday, June 29th. Check out the schedule for details.

June 23rd, 2007 We were kind of flat, but played good solid defense - and beat the Highlanders 9-4.

June 19th, 2007 The Sharks didn't show up at all - not a single person. Thanks for the head's up! We're 2-0 now, and I guess we've clinched a spot in the tournament.

June 17th, 2007 First game of Orinda 2007 goes well - beat AWOL 24-11. Only 10 more games to go...

June 3rd, 2007 Mangia Schedule posted for 2007. Lot's of games this year, though the month of July is going to be insane (7 games).

May 31st, 2007 Final Danville Braves season stats through playoffs are up and posted. Also added in stats for Game 3 too, which had been missing all season. Great Season, everyone!

May 21st, 2007 Games up to date through this last Saturday's game - May 19th.

May 13th, 2007 Games up to date through this last weekend.

May 7th, 2007 Kids stats are in through game 12 against the Cubs.

April 14th 2007 Stats are in through game 6 (still missing game 3). If you see any issues, let me know. BTW: If anyone knows of a good, group oriented website for upload pictures from lots of different people, let me know. If you go to the Braves page, you'll see that we have a pictures link that points to my Picassa web group site --> I'd like to move that to some place where everyone can collectively upload their pictures.

April 8th 2007 All the kids are in, but only half the stats are. Waiting for Devon to confirm a few things, get a few more games worth of stats to add in, and then I will open for the masses.

March 27th 2007 The CPOS is all new, ready for all forms of baseball, softball stats - kids and adults. Jack has started playing Single A baseball in Danville, and they keep stats! So, I know stats - I'm a stat guy. So, starting all new for 2007, I'll keep both the grown up and kid stats here...
