I'm a big music kind of guy. When I came to boston for college, all my LPs could fit in one milk crate. At the height of my music collection I had many many milkcrates of LPs, 12" singles, cassettes and CDs... My most recent moved caused me to clean house. I went from a place with loads of shelf space to one without much at all, so something had to go. All the LPs and 12" worth keeping were transferred to Minidisc. MD has also replaced cassette use. The CD singles were consolidated and burned onto full length CDs. And the main 1,700 CD collection was thinned... It's amazing how much you collect when you have lots of space

Part of my trouble is liking so many different kinds of music (as you can see from the list below). I love going to dollar bins and just picking up CDs the look cool or have unique instruments or they're just plain cute. hey, I've found some really good music that way.

As for format, I'm still a CD hound. Although when I find a CD with only 1 good ong on it, I'll rip the song and toss the CD, rather than (as I used to be able to ) keep the CD around. I'm big time into Minidisc as well with over 300 recorded discs. I like having a lot of 'misc mix'es. The compression is good, and MP3 players are audio equipment. MP3 players are still tied to computers, and the compression isn't as good. But, now that I have a faster computer, I am into MP3s. mp3.com, napster and Soundjam for ripping, I've been finding some cool stuff on line.

So on to the music

MP3s take up lots of space; too much space for a web page. So I have no music samples on this page, But, I do have links to places where there are samples, so you might get a chance to hear some of this strange stuff.

October Project Album Cover October Project One of the best bands to come along in a long long time. Haunting melodies. Complex harmonies. Some of the greatest music I've heard in a long time. Unfortunately, they were hosed by their record company after releasing only 2 albums. Yet they still have an incredable following to this day.
There are many fan pages out there, but one of the best is this one. Well, best might be much, but it is the one with loads of music samples, and two videos on the site.
Songwriters form OP Julie and Emil Flanders had formed the now defunct November Project Similar to OP, but different and distinctive. Former OP singers Mary Fahl and Marina Belica have also pursued solo careers.
Emil & Julie have now re-formed October Project and do have a new album coming out. Not sure how they'll sound with Mary though :(
There are far too many other web pages to list here. If you like the music you hear, go to your favourite search engine and search on October Project and investigate furthur...
More band close-ups to come, but until then here is a list of bands I enjoy, in no particular order... And in no particular liking. Some bands I may only like 1 or 2 songs, or I may love everything they make. See anyone you recognize?
