Membership Those eligible for
active membership in the United Daughters of the Confederacy are women
no less than sixteen years of age who are blood descendants, lineal or
collateral, of men or women who served honorably in the Army, Navy or
Civil Service of the Confederate States of America, or gave Material Aid
to the Cause. Also eligible are those women who are lineal or blood descendants
of members or former members of the UDC. Adopted children are not eligible
for membership by virtue of the adoptive parents bloodlines, but
solely by virtue of the natural or biological parents. Proof of ancestor
service to the Confederate States of America is required. The Fredericksburg
Chapter was especially honored to have among its membership Mrs. Raymond
(Brooke) Hughes Snead, a REAL Daughter.
Mrs. Sneads
father, Eldridge Tucker Hughes, served with the Goochland Light
Dragoons Company F, 4th Virginia Calvary. Brooke is no
longer with us, but her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
