Hi. My name is John and this is my personal site that contains things that I find interesting. During the last two years I have started taking lots of pictures. Some of my backyard garden, some of birds and some of attractions in and around my hometown of Richmond, VA. Plus I'll be adding some Mark Martin racing images I scanned a few years ago.
I've had web sites before. Many in fact. But all the others were fairly simple. I'd write some text and just drop an image in between paragraphs with no image manipulation at all. I decided to really try and make a more "modern" looking site. The Goose image above is an example. After reading a few tutorials I decided to do a simple 'picture frame' using Paint Shop Pro 7. I also decided to add a watermark just for the heck of it and I added a drop shadow also.
I also am using 'tubes' for the first time, like the red rose.
Links to my subpages are in the box to the upper right. They include birds, Mark Martin, parks, my backyard garden, Richmond attractions and a visit to Monticello. I just added a new section dedicated to Virginia Commonwealth University. I chose to photograph the VCU campus because of it's wide range and age of it's buildings. From restored homes built in the 1890s to the boxy buildings of the 1960s to the new structures of the 1990s and 2000s it is all here.
Some new images were added in early May. Here are some images of my workplace.
Most of the images on this site are my own. The title banner was done online and the Henrico iBook image was barrowed from an eBay sale. The Mark Martin images and the Harry Gant image are scanned images. The rest are images I took either with a disposable camera and, more recently, an Olympus Stylus 120. I am not a professional photographer so the quality may not be the best around.
