NEWS
GREAT SHOW FOR COUNTRY MEADOWS EMPLOYEES
November 4, 2009 - We had a wonderful
audience at the Country Meadows 15th Annual Anniversary Dinner, held at
Mango's in Allentown, PA. With about 60 employees in attendance, and in
spite of competing with the last game of the baseball playoffs, DB
had many members of the audience participate in our games. Everyone had
plenty of fun, and we look forward to future shows!
CLASSES OFFERED
October 4, 2009 - DB offers small group and
one-on-one classes for acting, improvisation, monologue workshops,
audition skills, and "business
of the business." Email
dutchblitzkrieg@gmail.com.
DB SEEKS ADDITIONAL MEMBERS
September 5, 2009 - DB is in search of additional members to
start out as "Swing" players. Since each of us have "other jobs" there are
times when one or more of the regular members are unable to make a show.
Swing Members will attend our rehearsals (no pay) and when needed, will
fill in for shows (pay!) Rehearsals are essential for growth as a troupe
and because we are advancing to both Short and Long Form, and may also
start popping a sketch or two into our program. DB members are not
employees, they are subcontractors. Some Improv experience and/or training
preferred. Male or female, EOE. Send your headshot and resume to
dutchblitzkrieg@gmail.com.
JO MERCER ATTENDS SECOND CITY
TRAINING CENTER FOR ADVANCED IMPROVISATION AND COMEDY SKETCH WRITING CLASS
INTENSIVES
August 25, 2009 - They don't call it "Intensive" for nothing,
my friends! Led by Improv instructor John Hildreth, and Writing Instructor
Joe Janes, it was an extremely busy week in Chicago. Students immersed
themselves in furthering the skills required to hone their craft Hildreth
took us through a series of higher level exercises geared towards Long
Form Improv (The Harold, French Braid, La Ronde, etc.); for Writing, Janes
instructed us on different comedic writing genres and each student wrote
an entire 5-page sketch every evening, and had the class perform it the
next afternoon. While in Chi, I attended a student graduation show at iO
(Improv Olympics) and got together with classmates from last year, who
came into town for a reunion. Now, if I only had an extra $2.5 million to
buy that adorable ivy-covered townhouse in Lincoln Park ...

DUTCH
BLITZKRIEG REALITY SIZZLE REEL OFF TO L.A. FOR NETWORK PITCH!
Saturday, February
28, 2009 - Associate
Producer Megan Isenstadt notified Jo Mercer, DB Artistic
Director, that the video they shot during Boy Wonder
Productions' weekend in Pennsylvania was edited and ready to
pitch to the networks. The team may have to come back for some
"pick-up" shoots next weekend; other that that, the "Sizzle
Reel" is ready to go!
From Jo: It's funny, when you think about it - you are
hooked up to a body microphone and then you tend to forget
it's even there - that's what the reality show really waits
for - that's the human side of people. And I'm going over
things in my head - not obsessing, but I just *know* there's
this rehearsal scene when the cast members went off on a
tangent and I shouted "Oh my God, SHUT UP!" And it's good
stuff - I'll laugh out loud when I see it ... stay tuned
everybody, we shot for the moon and that's where we're going -
stay along for the ride!
