Jo Mercer: Writer

Then I fell in love with the Theatre! At age six, I was a *fantastic* sunflower in the Kindergarten Spring Extravaganza! When I was 15, I saw Pippin on Broadway, followed by Ben Vereen in the round at the Valley Forge Music Fair. What an experience!

I was Editor of the High School newspaper, then went on to explore photography throughout my college years, earning scholarships and awards for my participation in a variety of events. Using my college press pass, I wormed my way backstage to numerous events, from Springsteen concerts, to tennis matches featuring the likes of John McEnroe (oh, yes, I still have the photo of him flipping me the bird!)

Now, in addition to writing professionally for a number of national publications, I also write plays (which have been performed in Philadelphia, New York, Nova Scotia, and South Africa,) screenplays (there is interest from some quarters, but not enough completion funds available yet), short stories, several novels in the works, and poetry (the silly sort, fun yet amusingly deep at the same time.)
