lthough all player characters are normal humans, there are other intelligent beings in the world. Your character has never seen one, of course—his or her knowledge of non-humans is based on rumor, childhood stories, and tradition—but their existence is never doubted. They are not quite the same as the usual generic fantasy races: aside from anything else, these beings are outside the Church, and therefore possibly dangerous to the soul!
