PROFESSIONAL
EXPERIENCE
GENERAL
ELECTRIC COMPANY, Philadelphia, PA 1991 – 2002
Turbine Support Operation Industrial Division
Mechanical Designer/ CAD Administrator
Designed Packaged Electrical switchgear and control products GAC - Generator Auxiliary
Compartment, PEECC - Packaged Electrical and Electronic Control Center, GEC -
Generator Excitation Systems, GTE - Generator Excitation Systems, GTE –
Generator Terminal Enclosure for GE’s Gas and Steam turbine power projects.
Packages included Low Voltage (600V) control products like Motor control center,
Turbine (MKV/VI) Generator protection panels, Excitation Systems, chargers to
Medium (34.5KV) voltage equipment such as Vacuum & SF6 circuit breakers, PT
& CTs, high voltage bus system. Miscellaneous Plant conduits, raceways, cable
tray, lighting, smoke detectors, electrical auxiliary sizing & layout per
NEC.
- Supported
engineering on new job proposals and completed designs from engineering proposals
reducing number of different parts per assembly.
-
Developed database to simplify engineering documentation tracking (New drawings,
Alteration Notices, Work Authorizations), reducing number of open Alteration
Notices.
-
Designed database that converted plot files from Bravo Designer to Adobe Acrobat,
kept track of revision levels for drawings and hyperlink to the drawings in
Acrobat format allowing manufacturing and engineering to access the latest
prints in a user friendly platform.
- Generated
macros to import print files from P870 (Electrical CAD system from the 1970’s)
to word, batch convert drawings to Adobe Acrobat. Eliminated cost associated
with reproduction and express mail since all drawings can now be sent in electronic
form to the customer.
-
Provided systems support for Applicon Bravo Designer, Bravo Solids, Bravo
SMD, FAB (Applicon is a 3D wire-frame and solids modeling CAD/CAM package).
-
Troubleshot and corrected corrupted drawing files and Windows NT related problems.
-
Trained new and existing users of CAD packages. Developed training documentation.
-
Created CPROC (Macros) to enhance the job of designers/detailers resulting
in the Automation of tasks.
-
Decreased Design cycle with the setup and implementation of libraries to control
the use of parts, assemblies and drawing files, which allowed multiple users
to work in one design.
-
Administered libraries for Computer Aided Design system.
-
Provided technical support to CDI (on site consulting company).
-
Designed low voltage and high voltage enclosures for packaged steam/gas turbine
equipment (Aux. Power Plants) resulting in a standardized product line.
-
Designed Copper Bus assemblies for voltages up to 18,000 volts & currents
to 13,000 amps.
-
Assisted with the installation and configuration of the PC network. Configured
computers for designers and engineers. Created and updated Ghost images for
CAD stations to reduce down time in case of a fatal failure.
-
Developed local intranet to house design standards and engineering documentation
provided easy access to the latest documentation to engineers and designers.
GENERAL
ELECTRIC COMPANY, Philadelphia, PA 1990 – 1991
Turbine Support Operation Industrial Division
Consultant
Managed
the implementation of the Computer aided Design/ Computer Aided Manufacturing
system.
- Created
3D CAD (Applicon Bravo III, Bravo FAB) Models from existing paper drawings.
-
Generated CNC programs for the punch presses utilizing FAB models thus reducing
the production time and increasing accuracy of punch programs.
-
Improved quality and accuracy of parts while creating 3D parts and assemblies
from existing paper drawings.
MERCER
COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE, Trenton, NJ 1987 – 1989
