Stockton Airsoft

This started this on October 13, 2003

This is a group of airsoft players that re-enact the missions and equipment of the 75th Rangers in airsoft games or reenactments depicting combat in historical and current scenario events. The group concentrates on realistic uniforms and weapons of that Ranger unit as depicted in Vietnam, Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq.

The reasons to use this unit is based on the type of game an airsoft event can accurately depict. Large-scale conflict is very difficult to depict accurately without great expense. Missions of the ranger units around the world are usually more based on surprise, stealth and are executed in small numbers with shock effect.  Picking one unit helps to limit costs in the area of uniforms and gear. Rank is not worn and no patches or insignia is worn that would imply any real affiliation with these real world groups. The only patches worn are “Name tapes” on the right breast and “U.S. Army” above the left breast pocket. Any information that could enhance a more realistic depiction in these environments would be greatly appreciated.  Rules, guidelines and organization of the group are based on total group input.

I previously served as a tank battalion Logistics Officer after serving 4 years in a tank company as a Executive Officer, Platoon leader and tank crewman. I enlisted in 1987, served one year and spent the next 14 months in the California Military Academy. After graduating there, I served as a “TAC (Teach, Advise, Counsel”) Officer with CMA along with my duties as a platoon leader.  I played paintball back in the early eighties until it got too competitive and lost the fun of playing. After nearly 15 years of being away from paintball, I tried it again but found that it has changed into more of a head on quick fight without any real need for advanced tactical techniques. (and for the most part, the guns look silly) I found out about airsoft and decided to give it a go. My real honest evaluation of airsoft so far in America, is that many players are a little to clean and neat. I enjoy tactical games because they come with RISKS. Playing and designing computer games for so long, left me really needing to experience some type of real risk in my tactical gaming. Well, I guess “PAIN” is a risk. Paintball is superb to inflict at least some fear while playing. I have ZERO desire to see anyone get hurt and do play VERY safely. But a welt, bruise or cut is not really something I get overly concerned about. I think it OUGHT to sting a little to ensure players try and play a bit more realistically. At any range whatsoever, with all this gear, a 6mm airsoft bb is just not going to hurt let alone even FELT sometimes. So this is where I came from to develop airsoft to the NEXT LEVEL.
