France is a huge country that takes up a large chunk of Europe.
Because of France's size, and my limited time there, I have only visited three regions France.
Each of these regions was extremely beautiful and romantic and I plan on revisiting each one.
. The first region of France that I visited was Haute Savoie Haute Savoie is in the located in the Alps around the border of Switzerland. Haute Savoie (High Savoie) is full of very beautiful towns, castles, and meadows. Cozy towns like Yvoire and Annecy are found in this region. Both are nestled up against lakes with the Alps as a backdrop. Of course, most people go to Haute Savoie to visit Charmonix and Mt. Blanc. Mt. Blanc is an impressive mountain that is visible from the higher peeks of the Alps. Charmonix is the resort town that sprang up around it. As I said, there are numerous little chateaus and towns too. You can see these all on my Since all of the sites in this region are so close together you have to go to Haute Savoie page. The second part of France I toured through was the south. I spent a week in this part of France, as I was traveling from Spain to Italy.. During that time I got a taste for the south of France and the French Rivera. My first stop was Carcassonne. Here I found a medieval castle and town that was a delight to explore. (Note, its best in the evening when the busses leave!) My second stop was Montpellier, which is a relaxing college town. My final stop on this trip was in the heart of the Rivera. That city is of course, Nice. The last part of France that I have I visited is Paris, However this was not until my third trip through the country since the other two parts were just too far away. Paris was well worth the wait. Paris is a beautiful city with lots to see and do. I was also able to see Versailles Again, well worth the wait. Please note, I have no link on the map for the Alps since there was no room for it. I hope that you enjoy these photos. This all started as a hobby of mine back in college when I had the time to scan (there were no digital cameras back then) the photos and take the time to provide commentary. |
