Murren/Gimmelwald InformationMurren/Gimmelwald Photos

The Berner Oberland has a series of majestic mountains and breath taking hiking trails. If you spend any amount of time in Switzerland, you must go to the Berner Oberland to take in the beauty and to get a taste of what the Alps are about.

Many visitors to the Berner Oberland head strait for the major mountains of the region, the Jungfrau and the Schilthorn, and stay in the resort town of Grindelwald or stay in Lauterbrunnen or one of the other medium sized towns of the region. Though those towns are all fine, I fell in love with two small towns. Murren, and its little brother, a thirty minute hike downhill, Gimmelwald. Both towns are small and picturesque. Both retain much of the traditional alpine town feel and look (more Gimmelwald). Since I stayed in Gimmelwald, and managed to go to Murren every day, I collected a fair number of photographs of these towns. Here are a few to get a feel for what the smaller towns of the Berner Oberland are like. I hope you enjoy the photos. Any comments, please E-mail me, .
