The Azores Relief Fund, a non-profit organization founded in California in 1996, with the sole purpose " to help Portuguese or Portuguese descendents who may be victims of a catastrophe anywhere in the world," would like to inform you of the results of the three campaigns that have resulted in the distribution of $320,175 to 578 families.

FIRST CAMPAIGN - FLOODS IN THE AZORES
This campaign resulted in the distribution of $36,725 to 72 families in the following locations: Povoacao and Furnas in Sao Miguel and Ponta Delgada in Flores.

SECOND CAMPAIGN - RIBEIRA QUENTE AND ALENTEJO
In this campaign a total of $78,185 were distributed to 53 families in Ribeira Quente, Sao Miguel, and Alentejo in the mainland.

THIRD CAMPAIGN - EARTHQUAKE IN THE CENTRAL ISLANDS
This campaign resulted in the distribution of $205,350.00 to 453 families in the following locations: Praia do Almoxarife, Salao, Ribeirinha, Espalhafatos, Pedro Miguel, Flamengos, Castelo Branco, Cedros, all in Faial, and Madalena and Criacao Velha in the Island of Pico.

As it had been promised by the officers of the Azores Relief Fund, all donations were send directly to the victims.  No other expenses were charged except for those related with the creation and maintenance of the non-profit status of this organization with the federal and state governments.  All donations were sent to the most needed victims in accordance with the detailed information collected directly before the Parish and the Junta de Freguesia of each location.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who worked in the collection of over 300 thousand dollars.  It is impossible to mention all organizations and individuals involved; however, we would like to acknowledge the special contribution of the Holy Ghost Societies, Portuguese Radio Stations, Portuguese Radio Programs, Portuguese Fraternal Societies, civic and religious associations, sports clubs, private groups and the thousands of individuals who did not remain indifferent to the tremendous tragedies that affected our blood and cultural brothers.

Thank you for your generosity.

 God Bless You
