Scientists have made many discoveries over he past 1000 years. Some involve trips into space, landing of the moon, cloning, however one discovery has been overlooked, one that has to do with the sun, and certain doom over the entire planet. A professor stood staring into the heavens in his laboratory when his assistant walked in with a desperate tone, "Professor! You have to have a look at this!" "What is it, Dr Quool?" "The sun! We've underestimated its length!" "What do you mean we underestimated its length?" "Its lifespan. A new discovery of how the sun inefficiency converts helium and hydrogen has left us speechless. At this extreme rate of time, the sun will go nova in about a week! We'll all be killed! There's not enough time to colonize Mars or anything! By the time we even get a space shuttle off the ground, time will be up." "Wait a minute. What happens when the sun goes nova exactly?" "Once the sun uses up its fuel in nuclear fusion, it will expand and keep expanding to about the orbit of Mars." "Will it become a black hole?" "No. The sun does not have enough mass to become black hole but unfortunately, the ENTIRE human race will be gone and there's nothing we can do about it." "This.. is just unbelievable. Should we alert the public?" "No. Chaos... Total chaos would be among them." "So what do we do now?" "Wait. That's all we can do." As time passed on, more and more could tell there was something wrong with sun. It became much brighter and bigger and hotter. Panic began to sweep the world as they noticed the sun do things it never had done before. It was unbearably hot in the middle of January. After only 3 days since the discovery, it would be pure daylight at 2 am and everyone was told to stay indoors during the daylight hours. Especially 8am to 5pm or you would be instantaneously burned. Not even AC at full blast could keep from the heat. Record highs of 172º were reported. Many used blinds to keep the light intensity down. If you were to walk outside two things would happen, you would be instantly burned and blinded because the sun was now everywhere in site. Everyone now knew that something was seriously wrong with the sun. "Where will we when we die, Dr Quool? Where will we go?" The professor asked with a frantic tone of voice. Dr Quool stared at him and gave no response. In an instant the earth was engulfed within the sun and the answer to the professor's question was revealed. He woke up in a pool of sweat.
