Hardware
I've been involved with computers since the late 70s and have owned at least one since the early 80s.My first computer, in 1982, was a Sinclair ZX80.
Then I got a real computer, in 1983, a Heathkit H-100
My first laptop was a Radio Shack Model 100.
We now have a collection of Gateways and Dells which serve us well. I find them the easiest to support compared to HP/Compaq, IBM, etc. Most of our computers are a generation or two (or three) behind the curve as I don't care to be a guinea pig. Our only, reasonably current machine is dual-core, 3gHz Gateway with dual SATA drives, 3 gig RAM, dual DVD drives, etc. for audio and video editing and for the kids to run games. It's only a couple years old. None of our other machines can run current games as the most powerful is a PIII, 500mHz. They are working machines, not toys - email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
I'm also behind the curve with my handheld, a Palm IIIx.
