NRS makes great boots for watersports. They are also a great company to do business with.I have feet that are over 2 sizes different. This requires me to have shoes custom made or to buy two pair of different sizes and throw away the unused one from each pair.
I went to Chicagoland Canoe Base because they had a large stock of NRS boots. I spent over an hour trying on different boots, walking around in them, determining how hard they would be to get on and off. The guys at CCB were most patient and helpful. They gave me no feeling that I was being a bother or an inconvenience to them. Great people. (These are the same people who let me take several PFDs home for my family to try on and cheerfully refunded my money on the ones we didn't choose.)
With drastically different foot sizes, and no muscles in my right foot, I had to get a different style and size for each foot. Looks weird. Who cares, they work. The left is a size 9 NRS Workboot and the right is a size 7 NRS ATB WetShoe. The lace-up style of the WetShoe is what allows me to open the boot wide enough to get my foot in and still snug it up tight enough to give me foot and ankle support for walking. It takes me two or three minutes to get the right one on my foot but it really fits and supports well once it's laced up. The left one, being velcro, takes about 5 seconds and fits just as well.
These boots are so comfortable, that I've found myself not changing out of them after packing the boat. I can walk easily in them, wrestle the GII overland (with help), drive the car, whatever. I'm really impressed.
And the most amazing part, NRS refunded me the cost of the cheaper pair after I'd sent them the left-over from each pair. That's called mis-mating. It's what Vasque used to do with the Hiker II back in the 70s. It's not a formal program at NRS. They just did it out of the kindness of their hearts. That's the kind of customer service Folbot owners are used to. Way above and beyond the ordinary. NRS is one of the best.
