1954 Willys CJ-3B
Some pics of the interior taken soon after purchase
Driver's side - 3 of 5 gauges appear original
horn button now on dash left of instruments
ignition switch is full, 4-position (acc/off/on/start) but using only On/Off
- foot switch still used to start
single speed, electric wipers - neat installation
defroster is a real cobble job - has to be disconnected to fold windshield
The 8-ball shift knob has got to go!
If you look closely at the dash, left of the steering wheel, you'll see some clutter. Too many knobs and stuff, lots of holes.
Closeups show detail.
From left to right - empty hole, replacement headlight switch (with ugly, red, "bomb" knob), older headlight switch (dead), horn button (replaces non-working steering wheel button). Moving straight up from horn button - four more empty holes.
I'm going to use some of those holes for fuse holders as I re-wire and add turn signals. Might as well plug the holes with something functional.
Here's the engine, showing the 12V starter (rather rusted), hot rod air cleaner, and no fan shroud
Also shows a very rusty hood hinge. Most of the Jeep is very lacking in preventive lubrication.
Everything I've looked at so far is dry and rusty.
The seatbelts are really wierd, and like the rest of the Jeep, dry - no lube. The latch binds severely for lack of lube on the spring-ball type catch.

I recognized the heater right away. In my youth, I've kicked a heater like that hundreds of times while riding shotgun in one of the farm trucks. Heater coil is good but the fan won't run. Got to fix that before next winter. I suspect those cobbled-in defroster ducts are out of the same old Chevy truck.

I'm betting the gas tank is a replacement. The filler neck sticks out beyond the body panel. Don't want to sideswipe a tree on that side.
Rear Springs
Note they don't match - no idea if either is original.
