1954 Willys CJ-3B

purchase Feb 09

My "new" Willys CJ-3B.
It's what we call a 20/20. It looks great at 20 mph from 20 yards away. The body has a lot of Bondo and some of it's starting to peek through the paint.

It's titled as a 1954, the engine number (4J34224) falls in late 1953 which fits with sales patterns of the time. Vehicles were titled as the year they were sold. The serial number plate is not original and there is no serial number on the frame in the expected location. The serial number plate is a late addition with a VIN made up by some state DMV.

Nov 2011 - I'm ready for snow. After last February when the driveway was 18" deep, I decided it was time.

Jan 2012 - Good thing. We've had two big snows already. 6" and 8" each in about 24 hrs.

Our first parade - Vets Day 2009 and Memorial Day 2010.

The new Jeep. Jan 2010

Well, not the new one anymore.
Here's the newest, new Jeep. April 2010
Gone to my buddy John. March 2011
Well, now there's an even newer, newest Jeep (this is getting out of hand). Jan 2011
Also gone to my buddy John.

Hold your hats, there's another one. May 2011
But it's not as bad as it seems. I've sold the tubless '54 and the engineless '59 to my buddy John. He's going to make a daily driver for his daughter out of the two. So I really have only 3 now.

I just found a mint condition 1954 Willys sales catalog which contains the middle-of-life Pickup / Wagon models with a 3-bar V-grille and the new L-226 flathead 6 cyl engine.

I'm doing a large scanning project for the Old Willys Forum. It's the 1956 edition of the Willys Mechanic's Manual for Station Wagons and Pickups (One-Ton Trucks). It'll take me several weeks (probably months) as it's over 300 pages. I'm posting pages here as I go.

I found another interesting document on ebay. It's a specifications questionnaire done in 1957 covering most of the Willys (Jeep) product line. The detail is amazing - 44 pages of data. The copy job was pretty poor but it is readable.

Some pics of my original 3B taken the summer of 08 by the previous owner.
