The Great Mysto Presents
THE SECRETS OF MAGIC
A Coin in Mind
A member of the audience is given two different coins. One coin is held in each hand, and they are rest on the knees. The magician leaves the room. The participant is asked to hold one of the coins up in front of her eyes for a count of twenty. The magician returns to the room and immediately tells which coin was the one observed.
The Secret:

While holding the coins on the knees, the blood rushes to the hands and colors them slightly. In the hand that holds the coin in front of the eyes, the blood recedes and leaves it lighter than the other.
In order to divert attention from the hands themselves, the magician reveals which coin was selected, not which hand.
