Hello!! There was so much progress made on our addition last week that I'm updating the site again tonight, only 9 days since my last update! But anyway, before I get to the addition pictures, let's go back in time about a month, to Allie's 5th birthday party!! (She's starting kindergarten this Wednesday, by the way.) I just got a hold of these pictures, which my dad had stored in his memory card. The party was at his house- here are the pictures!

And now.....

(That's my favorite new font so far!! Recognize it? I've been having a blast at 1001freefonts.com)

OK! So, like I said, there was tons of progress last week. On Monday the 23rd they framed the basement level; here are some pictures from that day (from outside & inside the new basement room), you can see where we're going to have a walk-out slider door.

Then on Tuesday the 24th they started framing our new living room on the main level. Woohoo! In these pictures you can see where they framed for the picture window in that room looking out onto the pond. Also you can see the door opening to where our new deck will eventually be.

By Thursday the 26th, they had put the last wall on the main level and had begun to build the frame for our new master bedroom on the upper level.

Then, by the end of the day on Friday the 27th, the outer walls on the upper level were framed! Here it is as it exists right now. It's looking big! The last three pictures in the set below were taken from inside the new master bedroom, looking from left to right (the three thumnails together there almost make a decent panorama). Again, you can see where we're going to have a picture window in that room. Note, the hole for a window on the left side of the main level is only there to make it easier to get materials inside. When they're done, they'll board it up and my big TV will go along that wall. Also, on the upper level, they haven't yet cut out the hole for the round top window that will go above the picture window.

That's it for now! To be continued! We're going to be so broke...

Hey! Like all the new fonts? Thought I'd be creative and wacky today; now that I've gotten around to updating the site again after so long, I figured it could use a bit more character. Move your mouse pointer over our page title above for even more wacky fun.

(Yeah, OK, it's just a silly color change.)

Well... being the lazy slob I am, I haven't updated this site since February, so there's lots of catching up to do! OK where to start... I guess we'll start with the cats!! Yup, in April, we got two more, Smudge, a white male with a smudge on the top of his head, and Wilhelmina, a grey female with black stripes. They've grown like weeds since then of course (as have Sammie and Sadie since my last post), especially Smudge, who's gotten pretty frickin tubby!!

Here are a bunch of cat pictures taken since April, in chronological order. You can see how fat Smudge has gotten in just those few months!

Here are some more random pictures of Allie taken over the last few months, watching Spy Kids 3D, wearing her Easter dress, and eating a blue sour candy.

And here's the whole gang at the 4th of July parade:

Also, we had a great little mini-vacation on the Cape a couple weekends ago. Here's a few pictures of the house we stayed at, which our friends Sean and Erica rented out for a week and were nice enough to let us use for a night!

And of course I've saved the exciting news for last... our addition is (go ahead and move your pointer over the word "underway" in that sentence for more wacky fun. OK, that's enough of that, I know.)

So, here we go with the story on the addition (16.5' x 20') so far...

Here are a couple pictures of our house as it was on August 1, after they put down the haybales along the perimeter of our lawn as a barrier to protect the wetlands before starting the work. Note the deck behind the house, and the AC unit under it.

So the first thing they did was to move the AC unit to the side of the house and knock down the deck. So here's as it was on August 2.

Then they dug a big hole. Here's the situation on August 3...

Then they put gravel in the hole. August 4...

And here we are on August 9, after they put in the concrete footers.

Then they poured the new foundation walls!! Here they are with the forms still on, on August 10, and then with the forms taken off, on August 11.

Then they poured in more gravel, hauled away the loads of dirt they had dug up, and back-filled the area. Here's August 13...

And at that time they also cut a 4' wide hole in our existing foundation wall to connect our existing basement to the addition. Here's that hole, on August 14, taken from the inside of our existing basement.

And then, just this past week, they poured the floor! Now the foundation's done, a lot of the lumber has been delivered, and they'll start framing next week!!
