Venus 2004
| 2004 is an excellent year for Venus observers because it's an evening star through the spring, transits the Sun on June 8th.for the first time since December 6, 1882. I take my images when Venus is close to the meridian using a neutral density filter (ND 3) to tame the bright daylight sky. |

Transit of Venus June 8, 2004 from Marbella, Spain. We observed the transit with our close friends Barbara and Brian Jacques whose Marbella home commands a view of the Eastern horizon. I used a Nikon D-100 attached to a Takahashi FS-78 on a Celestron GC-4 mount.. A hazy hazy at Sunrise prevented imaging until 0613 UT. This grouping shows the transit and is followed by some images of the "Black Drop." |

The Black Drop The Takahashi at prime focus and the Nikon D-100 are a great team as the following images prove. We thank our host and hostess for a great transit and fine vacation. |
